Quvenzhane Wallis : stuffed animal bags

Quvenzhané Wallis showed off another fabulous puppy purse at Monday’s Oscar Nominees Luncheon. As we noted last month, these haute dogs have been a red carpet staple for the Beasts of the Southern Wild starlet throughout awards season.

And Wallis doesn’t discriminate by breed. So far, she’s accessorized her outfits with Poochie & Co. plush purses made in the likeness of a poodle, a golden retriever and a bulldog, though the Boston terrier she carried on Monday be the pièce de résistance. That pooch is giving face, y’all.

Wallis is really stepping up her game as she enters into the home stretch, but what does one carry to the Academy Awards? Will she switch things up and take a frog, a giraffe or — perish the thought! — a cat instead?

Doubtful. On The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last week, Wallis promised that she’ll carry a doggie bag to the Oscars.

While it’s unlikely that she’ll spark a trend in canine couture for adults — Emilio Poochie, Alexander Muttqueen, Bark Jacobs, Chewnel – (though stranger things have happened), I have to give props to the 9-year-old, who now holds the distinction of being Oscar’s youngest nominee ever. Remember Anna Paquin’s blue taffeta number from 1994? Or Tatum O’Neal’s tiny tux in 1974?

All due respect to those choices, but if the competition were about looking fresh and dressing like, you know, an actual kid, Wallis would win, paws down.
