Two students are being treated for injuries after a shooting at Berrendo Middle School, according to an Eastern New Mexico Medical Center spokesperson.
The spokesperson said the students were injured during the shooting. No futher details could be released.
The school remains on lockdown after the shooting on Tuesday morning.
KOAT-TV is reporting that at least one person was taken to a local area hospital after the shooting. According to Fox News, a total of three people were injured in the shooting. Another report said a victim was airlifted to a Texas hospital.
Police posted word of the shooting at about 8 a.m. local time.
The school has been placed on lockdown.
Children were bussed from the school to a nearby mall and concerned parents were told to collect them there.
Roswell has been rocked by gang violence in recent years and has asked Homeland Security Investigations to step in and help.
