A 21-year-old WVU student surrendered to police at noon Feb. 13 to face charges stemming from the Nov. 14 drinking death of freshman Nolan Burch.
Morgantown’s prosecutor’s office says they arrested this week 21-year-old Jordon Hankins, a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity which Burch, a Williamsville native, was pledging to be part of.
This follows the Wednesday arrest of Richard Schwartz, a 20-year-old Williamsville native who was charged with one count of hazing months after Burch’s death. Schwartz was said to have been Burch’s “big brother” as part of a pledging ceremony.
That pledging ceremony has been the focus of a police investigation since Burch, a Canisius High School graduate, died in November with a .493 blood alcohol content. Police say he was given a large bottle of alcohol and encouraged to drink it all. West Virginia University confirmed that the drinking was part of Greek life on campus, and have since suspended all fraternities and sororities.
While the police investigation has progressed, and lead to two arrests and a still open case, an investigation by West Virginia has progressed following Burch’s family calling for change at the college.

Perhaps the charge should be manslaughter..
