Stephanie Seymour: Model due in court; faces new charges “Police”

Stephanie Seymour was arrested on new charges stemming from a hit and run accident that Greenwich Police say happened the same night before her drunken driving crash and arrest.

The 47-year-old actress and wife of the polo-playing art collector and newsprint magnate Peter Brant was arrested Jan. 15 following a crash on an exit ramp of the Connecticut Turnpike in the Riverside neighborhood of Greenwich.

Greenwich Police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray said Monday that Seymour was involved in a hit-and-run crash on Stanwich Road shortly before the Connecticut Turnpike crash. “She hit the pole and continued on. There was severe damage to the front end of her car” when Connecticut State Police arrived at the scene of the exit ramp crash that occurred about 9:25 p.m. Jan. 15.

A short time later, Greenwich Police received a report that a utility pole on Stanwich Road, near Crown Lane in the Greenwich backcountry, was broken in half.

According to the police report, investigating Greenwich Police officers found several parts to a Land Rover at the scene and were later able to match them to Seymour’s vehicle.

Police then obtained an arrest warrant charging Seymour with evading responsibility and failure to drive in proper lane.

Seymour, who lives on North Street, not far from where the crash scene involving the utility pole, surrendered at Greenwich Police headquarters at 9:05 a.m. Monday. She was released after posting $500 bond on those charges.

Stephanie Seymour, who’s graced the covers and pages of several magazines including Sports Illustrated and Vogue, already was free on $500 bond that was set on the original driving under the influence and unsafe backing charges from her Jan. 15 arrest.

Stephanie Seymour is scheduled to appear Feb. 2 in state Superior Court in Stamford for arraignment on all charges.
