Steve Kroft : ’60 Minutes’ Correspondent Admits to Extramarital Affair

Steve Kroft has opened up about his personal life revealing his extramarital affair with a New York based lawyer. He said that he dated the lawyer for three years.

“I had an extramarital affair,” Kroft’s statement — first released to the New York Post’s “Page Six” — read. “That was a serious lapse of personal judgment and extremely hurtful to my wife and family, and for that I have nothing but regret. My wife and I are committed to each other and are working hard to get past this, and consider it a private matter.”

CBS News declined to comment on the reports Wednesday. There was nothing to indicate that the story — which chronicled in explicit detail his trysts with the lawyer — would have any impact on his role at “60 Minutes.”

Steve Kroft, 69, who joined the program in 1989, is married to journalist and author Jennet Conant. They live in Sag Harbor.
