A 65-year-old woman from Bangkok committed suicide by jumping into a pond full of crocodiles at a reptile farm.
Wanpen Inyai intentionally leaped Friday afternoon into the pond housing more than 1,000 crocodiles at Samut Prakarn Crocodile Farm & Zoo in Bangkok.
The woman was reportedly ripped apart by the reptiles.
Police were called and arrived to find zoo keepers desperately trying to use sticks to shoo away the animals, which were feasting on her body.
The woman’s family had reported her missing but were told to wait 24 hours before a search could be started. Sunan Tharmna said that her sister had been depressed and had not spoken to anyone for several days before her death.
Inyai was later identified after her healthcare card floated to the surface of the water.
