The details of the ongoing legal battle between Taylor Swift and a former Denver radio DJ David Mueller have been released in a deposition obtained by TMZ.
The man she accuses of the assault, David Mueller, also known by his former Denver KYGO listeners as “Jackson,” lost his job after Taylor claimed that he groped her and retaliated by suing the pop star. She reacted with a counter lawsuit and an articulate statement given by her attorney on how Mueller “will serve as an example to other women who may resist publicly reliving similar outrageous and humiliating acts.” Now, however, new details have come to light as court documents from her deposition have surfaced, which depict just how reprehensible she says Mueller behaved in her company.
“He reached up under my skirt and grabbed my *ss right when I was having to pose for a photo, and it felt intentional that would be the time he would choose to do it,” Taylor says in the deposition documents, as obtained by TMZ. She then proceeds to describe the feeling of having her humanity taken away from her — a feeling described time and time again by other sexual assault victims.
“As soon as he grabbed my *ss, I became shocked and withdrawn and was barely able to say ‘Thank you for coming,’ which is what I say to everybody,” she says. “I was barely even able to get the words out, and it was like somebody switched the lights off in my personality.”
Swift doesn’t say if the incident was captured by the photographer, as the photos are currently being kept under seal, according to TMZ. But her feelings are legitimate; according to RAINN, every two minutes, another person in the United States is assaulted. Time and time again, we are reminded that nothing — not even being a mega-famous pop star — protects you from being violated.
“It’s impossible to know if that was in the moment before or as he’s grabbed on, but I was there, so I felt it, so I didn’t just see it in a photo afterward,” she says. “I was also there. I experienced it. It happened to me, so I’m positive that it did happen.”
