Police say a 15-year-old girl murdered her mother Rosie Sanchez and her mother’s boyfriend Anderson Nunez inside their Brooklyn apartment.
According to New York’s ABC station, the teen — whose identity has not been released — was charged with two counts of second-degree murder after she implicated herself during questioning. The victims were identified as the suspect’s mother, Rosie Sanchez, 38, and her boyfriend, Anderson Nunez, 40. They were found in their apartment Sunday night after police performed a wellness check, but the bodies had reportedly been there for several days and had begun to decompose. Sanchez was reportedly shot multiple times, while Nunez was shot and stabbed.
Police are looking into the suspect’s claims that Nunez either raped her or tried to rape her, but at least one report says authorities have cast doubt over such claims. According to DNAinfo, the suspect partied on New Year’s Eve in Times Square as the bodies remained in the apartment.
News of the murders and the accusations surrounding the couple shocked residents of the Brooklyn housing project where they lived. “They were a unit,” an upstairs neighbors told The New York Times, describing the couple and the 15-year-old daughter.
