Texas captured a convicted killer on Monday eight hours after he broke out of prison in Amarillo by scaling a fence and dodging gunfire.
Authorities say 34-year-old Marvin Garcia was apprehended just before noon Monday after authorities searching in a plane saw someone jump from a freight train that had slowed.
State troopers and local law enforcement agencies converged on the area North of Amarillo near the Canadian River and took him into custody.
Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokesman Jason Clark says Garcia offered no resistance.
Garcia had fled the prison at around four in the morning Monday by scaling a fence.
He’s been serving a 25-year term for a murder conviction in Harris County.
