Thor, a 16-month-old dog, is finally returning home to Texas after severe flooding separated him from his family and he wandered more than 2,000 miles west to California.
“He was seen by a member of the public jumping off of the back of a truck and the truck went away without him,” Justin Riggs, Director of Del Norte County Animal Control said. “So we’re not exactly sure what the full story was but he was brought in over a weekend and we came in Monday to see this beautiful Pit hanging out.”
Thor arrived at the Del Norte County Animal Shelter about one month ago, four months after he went missing from a home in San Marcos, Texas. Thor’s owners say they were forced to leave their three dogs behind when evacuating during severe flooding. They returned to a damaged home and missing dogs.
No one knows how Thor made the over 2,000 mile cross-country trip.
