Tisha Campbell-Martin is making powerful strides in her acting career but now she’s returned to another passion — singing. After a successful run on Martin and My Wife and Kids, the singer debuts her first single in 11 years, “Steel Here.”
The 46-year-old wears an apology letter from her childhood rapist in one scene. “Dear Beloved Tisha,” read the words written across her chest and shoulders. “This apology has been in my heart and on my mind for decades. For decades there has been a grieving pain within me coupled with an unending shame for my past behavior.”
Campbell-Martin’s music video is about resilience freedom, and the power of forgiveness. Instead of being shackled by the horrific act in her childhood, the mother of two has chosen to not only break free, but send a message that could potentially help others do the same.
