Tom Hardy explained his recent reaction to a question about his sexuality saying that it was not the right setting for the query.
“That really, really annoyed me,” he reveals. “It was just the inelegance of being asked in a room full of people… I’m happy to have a conversation, a discussion, at a reasonable time about anything. I’m confident in my own sexuality, and I’m also confident in my own being and talking about any issue you want to talk about. But there is a time and place for that.”
For those that may have missed the altercation, a reporter from an LGBT publication asked Hardy if he thought it was difficult for celebrities to talk to media about their sexuality.
To which he replied with: “What on earth are you on about?”
When the reporter repeated the second part of his question the actor asked if he was asking him about his sexuality. Once the journalist confirmed, the “Mad Max” actor bluntly questioned “Why?” and ended the discussion with a firm “Thank you.”
“Why point me out, assuming that I’m gay because I’m ambiguous about it?” he questions. “Which I’m very clear if you look into what I’ve said in the past.”
The last TIFF screening of “Legend” takes place Saturday, September 19 at the Princess of WalesTheatre. But for everyone else outside of Toronto, the film is set to hit movie theatres November 20.
