The Toy Retailers Association’s annual list of Dream Toys is always eagerly anticipated as the most accurate prediction of what will be topping the nation’s Christmas wish lists.
Selected by a panel of industry experts with unique insight into toy trends and the UK market, these 12 toys are guaranteed to sell like hot cakes this year.
Alex Caley, events and retail promotions manager at Meadowhall, said: “Christmas at Meadowhall is a really important time and being able to launch Christmas with something like this is brilliant.
“The toys are picked out by the Toy Retail Association and this year they have picked out some fantastic ones.
“The interactive dinosaur is my favourite. I’ve also seen a couple of ideas for presents too.”
Meadowhall centre director Darren Pearce added: “As a father of two I have to say it’s a terrific list, which no doubt will generate a huge amount of interest among children and adults too in the lead up to Christmas.”
Minecraft figures, a Nerf Demolisher gun, a Bop It! Beats game and an interactive My Friend Cayla doll also feature on the top 12 list.
Charley Rodgers, from Arbourthorne, was among the first youngsters to test out some of the toys at Meadowhall.
The three-year-old was impressed by the Frozen toys on display and had a great time playing with them.
Dad Gregg said: “We are down here doing some Christmas shopping and she saw all the toys.
“She is Frozen mad. I have a middle daughter and both of them together are always watching it. I’m surprised it is still as popular as it is.
“Charley and her sisters have already written their lists to Santa so he has an idea of what they want.”
Minecraft figures, a Nerf Demolisher gun and interactive My Friend Cayla doll also feature on the top 12 list.
Steve Town, from the Toy Retailers Association, said this year’s list featured more traditional toys.
“Frozen is popular this year and Lego is the number one toy company in terms of sales,” he said.
“They have toys which are linked to movies and there are some real traditional kind of toys on the list.
“The good thing about this year’s list is the average cost is under £12 and the cheapest item is only £7.99.”
