Trisha Yearwood has signed with Sony Music Nashville and RCA Records for a new album.
The Grammy-winning vocalist announced the project in front of an audience of industry and media colleagues in Nashville Tuesday night (Aug. 19). The new album, which has no firm release date yet, is titled ‘Prize Fighter.’
“I can’t even find the right words to express how excited I am to be releasing new music,” Yearwood said at an event last night that celebrated her Food Network series Trisha’s Southern Kitchen. “I chose the title PrizeFighter because it feels like an anthem for all of us. It’s about fighting for what you believe in, and never giving up, even when it’s hard. It’s a message we all need to hear. I’m so looking forward to working with the amazing staff at Sony. Music is what feeds my soul, and I’m grateful to them for giving me the chance to share what I love.”
In an interview with Billboard earlier this year, Yearwood said she’s in the early stages of looking for tracks to cut.
“Next on my list is to really sit down and figure out which of these songs to keep,” she told Billboard. “There are a couple of things in there that really do stand out. My window is now probably between April and September to really get in and get it done. I don’t know exactly what it’s going to look like. I’m listening to a lot of songs right now and I’m really loving what I’m hearing.”
Yearwood explained how she started a record back in 2011, right before her mother got sick but put it aside to focus on her family. After her mother’s death on Oct. 1, 2011, she said she didn’t have any desire to finish it. While she has recorded six tracks, Yearwood said the album itself is disjointed because it has been done over the course of two and a half years. But, now she’s ready to get back into the studio.
The Garth Brooks World Tour with Trisha Yearwood will kick off Sept. 4 at the Allstate Arena in Chicago.
