US border agents find drugs stuffed inside coconuts

Officers found 1,400 pounds of marijuana hidden in hollow coconuts Monday the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge in Texas.

On May 9, officers assigned to the Pharr International Bridge cargo facilities encountered a tractor-trailer hauling a shipment of coconuts from Mexico.

The conveyance was referred for a non-intrusive imaging inspection (NII). With the help of a K-9 team, officers discovered a total of 2,486 packages of marijuana concealed within the coconut shipment.

The case remains under investigation by Homeland Security Investigations.
