A west suburban Naperville man is the first reported human case of West Nile virus in DuPage County this year.
The man, who is in his 50’s, was treated as an outpatient and his condition has improved.
West Nile virus is spread by infected mosquitoes.
Symptoms include fever, headache, body aches, vomiting, diarrhea or rash.
Health officials warn that despite the cool, rainy weather, residents should continue to use insect repellent and wear long sleeves when they go outdoors from dusk to dawn.
