Ogden-based Bank of Utah has been identified as the trustee for an American plane sighted this week in Iran.
The plane was spotted Tuesday morning by a New York Times reporter.
The sighting is significant because American enterprises are typically barred from doing business in Iran due to economic sanctions and diplomatic tension. However, the plane was in an open area of Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport, according to the Times.
“This plane was carrying a high-ranking delegation from Ghana and according to an announcement by the country’s government, the jet was in possession of the US and chartered by Ghana’s presidency,” Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said on Friday.
“The passengers of the plane comprised a delegation of Ghanaian officials headed by the brother of the country’s president, and none of its crew were Americans,” she added.
Afkham said the Ghanaian delegation held talks with Iranian officials before leaving the country on Thursday.
