The 14-year-old has the same inherited disease, and was told she has a life expectancy of 17, reports CNN. Except Valentina doesn’t want to live that long.

In the video, Valentina Maureira says in Spanish: “I urgently request to speak to the president, because I’m tired of living with this illness. I want her approval so I can get a shot that will make me sleep forever.”
The young girl’s brother also died of cystic fibrosis when he was six.
The Chilean President who is also a pediatrician, Michelle Bachelet, visited Valentina in the hospital but said that she can’t let Valentina Maureira end her life because the Chilean law prohibits euthanasia.
Only the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Belgium have legalized euthanasia. Switzerland, Germany, Albania, Japan, and Colombia, allow assisted suicide as do New Mexico, Washington, Oregon, Vermont, and Montana in the United States.
Valentina’s father told the AP that as sad as he is about losing his daughter, he supports her decision to die: “This is so tough, but I have to respect her decision because she’s the one who’s suffering this illness. I already lost a 6-year-old son because I didn’t have enough money and organs. Now my daughter just wants to die in a dignified way.”
