On the last day of her senior year, Violet Burkhart was sent home from school for wearing a dress that was half an inch too short.
Violet Burkhart says she picked the dress because she wanted the last day to be special.
According to Burkhart, the teachers measured her dress with just 2 hours left of school, and told her it was half an inch too short. Burkhart then says they called her mother and said she had to go home and change her outfit.
“I literally looked back at the clock and I’m thinking, it’s 1:00 in the afternoon on her last day of her senior year. My daughter, it’s supposed to be one of her best days and she’s there crying,” said Amy Redwine, Violet’s mother.
Redwine says she isn’t arguing with the school’s dress code policy. However, she thinks the situation could have been handled in a different way. She even says her daughter wore the dress before to school.
Redwine decided to take action. She made her daughter’s graduation extra special by wearing the dress that got her daughter in trouble to the ceremony on Saturday.
