Microsoft on Monday announced that the latest version of its Windows operating system will be available July 29 for computer and tablet users.
Windows 10 will come with Microsoft’s virtual assistant, Cortana, along with the new Microsoft Edge web browser that replaces Internet Explorer. Those who hate getting work done may also be delighted to hear that Candy Crush will come installed for free.
All Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 users will be able to upgrade to the new operating system for free. Those who own those operating systems will soon see a small Windows icon in their taskbar. Clicking on this will allow them to “reserve” an upgrade.
On July 29th, anyone who reserved the upgrade will be able to do so or they can schedule a time for the installation to occur.
Microsoft highlights some of the key features of Windows 10 in this video. It shows off some of the capabilities of Cortana, and spends plenty of time showing off the return of the Start Menu.
