Police in Akron, Ohio, say that a woman repeatedly stabbed her boyfriend following a salsa-related dispute.
Around 4 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a stabbing in the 100 block of Lake Street.
The 61-year-old victim told Akron Police he was eating chips and salsa with his girlfriend, 50-year-old Phyllis D. Jefferson, when they got into an argument over who was eating all of the salsa. Jefferson then stabbed him in the pelvis area with a pen. Next, she walked over to the television to knock it onto the floor. As he grabbed it, she walked into the kitchen and grabbed a knife, then stabbed him in the stomach. Jefferson fled in a vehicle before police arrived.
According to police, Jefferson was stopped later on Interstate 77 just south of Route 224. She was taken into custody and charged with felonious assault and criminal damaging. She was booked into Summit County Jail.
The male victim was transported to Akron General Medical Center, where his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
