A 6-year-old boy discovered crystal meth instead of a toy when he opened a Kinder Surprise egg.
The boy found the egg under a hedge while playing outdoors with his brother in Limavady, Northern Ireland.
But when he opened the egg, he discovered a bag containing white powder inside it rather than a toy.
The boy gave the egg to his father before the police were informed.
Inspector Colin Shaw, from the Police Service of Northern Ireland, said: “The contents of the bag, which was found inside a toy egg, is believed to be methamphetamine. This small quantity of drugs will be disposed of by police.
“This incident is of the uppermost concern for all of us. Tackling the use and supply of illegal drugs is a priority for us and the possibility that something so potentially dangerous has been discarded where children could find it is deeply concerning.”
Insp Shaw added he was thankful the boy “had the sense to speak to an adult about what he discovered.”
Earlier this year, the Metropolitan Police Service reportedly found Kinder Surprises eggs stuffed with cocaine during a raid on a north London pub.
Police said some were found hidden in bins and others were allegedly discovered on people who were acting suspiciously while they walked towards the pub.
