‘Zombie cat’ claws its way back from the dead? There’s a new theory that could explain how a cat, presumed dead and buried, somehow clawed out of his grave and appeared at the neighbor’s house five days later.

Bart the moggie suffered head trauma, a broken jaw and an injured eye after being hit by a car.
The cat was discovered lying in a pool of blood and was taken to see a vet. They said there was nothing more that could be done for the animal, so he was buried.
But five days later, Bart clawed his way out of the grave and ran home – to owner Ellis Huston’s house in Tampa, Florida.
After his long escapade he had a ‘zombie’ appearance – with his road injuries and the loss of sight in one eye.
His owner told local news station Fox13 Bart would lose his eye, but very much alive.
It is unclear how he escaped, but Mr Hutson is convinced the battered feline is his pet.
Rescuers at the Tampa Bay Humane Society, where he is being treated, believed he may have come to underground, escaped and then hid for a few days before gathering the courage to head home.
