Elderly woman charged after 15-year-old stabbed near eye

Police say a woman is facing charges for allegedly stabbing a 15-year-old boy inside a Dartmouth home on Saturday.

The victim was at a home on Gaston Road when he was picked up and taken to the emergency department at the IWK Health Centre for treatment.

A 74-year-old woman is the suspect in the stabbing. She’s in custody, a Halifax Regional Police spokeswoman said.

Police said the victim and alleged assailant aren’t related. The spokeswoman could not say whether they know each other.

Police said Saturday evening that a search warrant would be executed at the Earleton Avenue residence.
