Kailey Oliver-Machado : Teen pimp ringleader to serve rest of sentence in penitentiary

Teen pimp ringleader Kailey Oliver-Machado will serve the rest of her sentence in a federal prison, an Ottawa judge decided Wednesday.

Kailey Oliver-Machado, 18, has nearly three years left on a 6 1/2-year sentence for crimes including human trafficking, invitation to sexual touching, making and possessing child pornography, assault and uttering threats.

She and two other girls, who were sentenced as youths, pimped out girls as young as 13 to adult johns in the spring and summer of 2012.

“You are the author of your future,” Judge Diane Lahaie told Oliver-Machado, who showed no emotion.

Though Lahaie had sentenced Oliver-Machado as an adult, her defence team asked that she be allowed to serve her sentence at a youth facility.

Lahaie refused, noting counselling at the Sundance facility is voluntary and the teen had only started counselling after she was convicted.

“With nothing further to gain,” Lahaie said she didn’t believe Oliver-Machado would participate.

In the pen, she won’t have a choice.

The mother of the youngest victim said it was the right call.

“I’m extremely happy that she’s going to the federal penitentiary,” said the woman, who can’t be named to protect the identity of her daughter. “That’s where she needs to be.”
