NASA Astronaut Scott Kelly’s first days back on Earth “Video”

Scott Kelly is enjoying his first week back on planet Earth after spending 340 days in space. Naturally, people are curious about how he’s doing. On Friday, the NASA astronaut held his first press conference since he’s been back, answering questions about readjusting to gravity, staying healthy, and lining up the future of his career

Among some of the things Scott Kelly spoke of were zero gravity and weightlessness, keeping fit in outer space and his prospects for the future. Kelly had been in space for 180 days before his year-long stay.

He expatiated on the fact that this time around, his muscle pain and tiredness were far greater than during the previous shorter attempt. Also, his skin was hypersensitive to touch since in space he had been without any physical contact with another human being for so long.

After his return to Mother Earth, the first thing he gulped down was a banana. The fructose, starch and pottasium would have served his muscles well.

He immensely enjoyed the HoloLens headset when he was in space. The VR headset made for hours of fun in space. It was a great helper and served as a reality augmentation device par excellence.

Kelly was really into social online media during his trip aboard the ISS. Twitter and Facebook were littered with his comments and photographs. His girlfriend, who also works for NASA kept up with his tweets and Facebook posts.

Since he got back to planet earth, he hasn’t really gotten a chance to relax fully. First there was the battery of tests he had to take to ensure that he was not suffering from some ailment after such a long time in space. Then there were other appointments he had to keep.

Kelly is still in the process of adjusting to the gravity of earth. He tried to shoot hoops in between his busy schedule but he has yet to score in basketball.

It will take some time before he gets used to it. While the number of days that Kelly has been in space is a grand total of 540, he is not afraid of continuing the tradition.

Scott Kelly may retire from NASA but he will be in touch with other space agencies and may book another trip into his favorite territory sometime in the future.
