NASA has released the largest ever image of the Andromeda Galaxy: a massive 1.5 billion-pixel image that goes into unprecedented detail.

Captured with the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, the photo shows the closest spiral galaxy to our Milky Way.

It shows over 100 million stars and thousands of star clusters embedded in a section of the galaxy’s pancake-shaped disc stretching across over 40,000 light-years.

The image requires 4.3GB of disk space. It requiring more than 600 HD television screens to display the entire image, according to Hubble. The panoramic image show about one-third of our galactic neighbor.

A newly released video makes viewing of the photo a bit easier, zooming in on some of the incredible details of the photos.
