Citizens help Oxford OPP stop alleged impaired driver

Oxford OPP charged a 31-year-old man with impaired driving on Sunday after several concerned citizens called in tips.

Police received a complaint of a vehicle travelling erratically on the westbound 403 onto the westbound 401.

Police received more calls as the vehicle was seen exiting to the ONrout Service Centre east of Foldens Line in Oxford County.

According to police at least one citizen intervened and approached the male driver in the drive-thru and asked for his keys, which he gave.

The driver, a Stoney Point resident, was charged with driving while impaired and care or control over 80 milligrams.

He will appear in court on Oct. 13.
