“There’s no threat to the community here,” attorney William Lanphear said. “There’s no flight risk, obviously, with Oneal. The passport was surrendered long ago. It makes no sense for Oneal just to be sitting in this courtroom.”

Morris is charged with manslaughter and six counts of practicing medicine without a license, accused of holding pumping parties during which he injected women’s buttocks with a dangerous cocktail of caulking, cement, Super Glue and Fix-A-Flat tire sealant.

One of his alleged victims died from complications following the procedure.

“Judge, I’m not a danger to my community,” Morris said in court.

Morris recently served a year and a day in a Miami-Dade County jail on similar charges. He pleaded with the judge to be released from jail on bond until his summer trial date.

“This whole experience has taught me a lot about, you know, people and how they’ll try to destroy my life, and I just want to put this behind me,” Morris said. “I wish that we could just put this behind me.”

The judge granted Morris’ request for bond at about $35,000. Lanphear said Morris has no money and won’t be able to post it.
