‘Jeopardy!’ Host Tricked Into Mentioning ‘SNL’ Character ‘Turd Ferguson’ (Video)

A Jeopardy! contestant this week hilariously tricked Alex Trebek into saying the name ‘Turd Ferguson’ on the air during the show’s Final Jeopardy round.

Real “Jeopardy!” contestant Talia Lavin apparently realized she had no answer for the question during the Final Jeopardy round, so she decided to have a little fun with Trebek.

The question was: “This song from a 1999 animated film about censorship had a word censored from its Oscar performance.” Instead of writing the correct answer — “Blame Canada” from “South Park: Bigger, Longer,” our hero wrote “What is ‘The Love Ballad of Turd Ferguson.’ P.S. Hi Mom.”

Awesome.

The reference is to the classic “SNL” sketch in which Burt Reynolds, played by mustached, gum-chewing Norm McDonald, decides to name himself “Turd Ferguson” because he thinks it’s a funny name. Will Ferrell plays a stiff and frustrated Trebek.

If the real Trebek found the joke funny, or even understood it, he wasn’t letting on.

Lavin told E! News “(Trebek) was really deadpan and then actually afterward, there is this moment when Alex talks to the contestants, and he asked me who Turd Furgeson was. I was like, ‘They are from the ‘SNL’ skits about you.’ He has seen them, but said, ‘I haven’t seen them in a number of years’ and I was like, ‘If I were you I would watch them every day.’ I was like, ‘Come on Trebek.’ He just shook my hand. … So I don’t think he got the joke.”
