Cogeco rolls out TiVo service in Ontario Monday, Report

Marking the start of TiVo’s first MVPD partnership in Canada, Cogeco announced Thursday that it will launch its TiVo-powered offering on Monday, Nov. 3, in Ontario, and extend it to systems serving Quebec in the spring of 2015 after they customize the interface, language and recommendations system for that market.

Cogeco TiVo will integrate Netflix and allow users to search through live TV, recorded and on-demand content and Netflix all at once.

TiVo also helps users discover new content by providing personalized recommendations. The platform automatically records content that it predicts might be of interest to the user.

Cogeco subscribers will also be able to search, browse and schedule recordings from iOS phones and tablets with a Cogeco TV app. They can also download recordings onto mobile devices.

An app for Android is expected in April 2015.

“We are excited to partner with Cogeco to bring our innovative TiVo service to Canadians’ living rooms, allowing a new audience to experience the best in home entertainment,” said Tom Elam, vice president & general manager, service provider business at TiVo.

The new service will be available Monday in Cogeco’s Ontario markets and in the spring in Quebec.
