Ireland Baldwin Checks Into Rehab, But Not for Substance Abuse

Ireland Baldwin voluntarily checked into rehab last week after experiencing a mental breakdown due to accumulated stress, contrary to recent reports that she entered for substance abuse.

The 19-year-old model took to her Twitter account last night to reveal she’s checked into Malibu’s Soba Recovery Center, a drug and alcohol treatment facility that helps deal with the underlying psychological causes of addiction.

She wrote: “I checked myself into Soba for two weeks to just get away for a little bit. I’m not much a party cat but I am here deal with…

“Some emotional trauma and getting the intensive therapy I needed in order to recover. Someday I’ll feel ready to share my story…

“Openly without feeling the way I do. Right now I just need a breather. I needed a chance to work on myself and gather all the tools…”

Ireland – whose parents are Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger – decided to go public with her decision to seek treatment after it was reported her mother had checked her into the facility for substance abuse “after partying non-stop”.

Ireland Baldwin mockingly wrote: “‘Intensive partying’ haha. Apparently I’m in rehab for intensive partying soooo I’m just going to lay pretty low for a bit and maybe get some frozen yogurt (sic).”

Ireland Baldwin is said to have sought help after growing up while her parents were going through a nasty public split.

A source close to Ireland told the New York Post newspaper’s PageSix: “Ireland has voluntarily checked herself into a treatment facility. She has the full support of her family and friends.

“This is not drug-related. It has been a stressful time for her lately and she hopes this treatment will give he the tools she needs to move forward.”
